From the Africa Collection – Faces of the Omo
This evocative piece from our Africa Collection tells the story of the Omo River tribes in southern Ethiopia. Along the banks of this sacred river, children adorn their faces with intricate and symbolic patterns, turning themselves into living art as they pose for professional photographers — blending tradition with the pursuit of livelihood.
The Omo River, flowing solely within Ethiopia’s borders before meeting Lake Turkana at the Kenyan frontier, is more than just a lifeline for its people. It is a cultural and historical artery, nourishing a land rich with ancestral heritage. The Omo basin is a place of geological and archaeological significance, holding deep-rooted stories that connect the present to the echoes of humanity's past.
This artwork captures the resilience, artistry, and timeless beauty of those who call the Omo River home.
